On Sunday, July 15th, the phone lines went down and they didn't come back up. Sun Rocket's website was only minimally functioning. When I called their customer service number, an automatron told me they were no longer accepting calls, click.
I called Jason and, as usual, he was right on top of it and he gave me the bad news that Sun Rocket was out of business.
He hacked into their website and managed to forward the studio lines to my cell phone number and we made do with that while we waited, in the technological dark, for word about what happened. We languished in the dark ages for over 2 long weeks until we learned about the various options available to restore service.
During the dark ages, we phoned each and every client to let them know what was going on and that we were struggling with diminished service. We made sure they had our cell numbers so they could, for sure, reach us if they needed us.
Every single one of them was just great about it.
Several commented about how calm I seemed in spite of what they assumed, and correctly so, was a super frustrating situation. Some doubted they'd be as laid back about it if it happened to them.
Our phones were definitely messed up but while we were fiddling around with swipe machines, websites and broadband cable, our wonderful client and dearly loved friend, Jeni, let us know her breast cancer had returned.
While we were on hold for hours trying to get service reinstated, she was lying on gurneys getting poked, prodded and scanned in order to determine if the cancer had spread beyond her breast.
While I was picking out a new cell phone plan to accommodate all those extra minutes from the studio phones being forwarded, she was breaking the news to her children, all 4 of them, that they'd be spending their summer a little differently than originally planned.
Our phones are back online and working perfectly.
Her mastectomy is on the 17th. Your prayers are appreciated.
Update: August 19th: Jeni's mastectomy on Friday went really well, she was only in the hospital one night, on Saturday night she answered the phone when Sister Heidi Side Kick called to check in on her, she was visiting with extended family and eating some of her favorite dishes they'd all made up special for her. She said Pilates really helps her now because she can't use her arm very well and every time she gets up, she thinks of it as a Roll Up, which she does beautifully. She had a session on Thursday, the day before her surgery, and she also had a massage that day, too. She said both really helped her tolerate the surgery really well. Thank you for your prayers! Heidi's channeling Joe and Eve as she prepares to welcome Jeni back on her regular weekly schedule just as soon as she feels like getting out of the house and back into the stuido. She has no restrictions other than the obvious arm/shoulder issues.
