I felt so smug. It felt so wonderfully wonderful. After countless expensive mistakes and truly horrifying service over 6 long years, I was finally leaving Qwest and switching to a VOIP service at an annual cost LESS than one month's Qwest bill.
My tech guy, Jason, assured me Sun Rocket was a great company for my VOIP service, he helped me sign up, he installed the little bit of hardware necessary and we patiently waited the 9 long weeks it took to get Qwest to release their stranglehold on my two phone numbers.
On Thursday, July 5th, it finally happened - my VOIP service went live and for less than $200 a year, I could call anywhere in the world and talk as long as I'd like, all my fancy call forwarding/voice mail/conference calling services were there, and we even scored some new services I'd never imagined but immediately loved, like having voice mails sent to my email address so I can check them on my Treo.
I had arrived on the cutting edge of communication technology and life was good.
